LIHEAP Applications Now Being Accepted The application period for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is now open with eligibility expanded from 150 percent to approximately 210 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines to help low income people pay their heating bills.

CDC Expands Coughing Recommendations If a cold or flu finds you coughing, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and immediately disposing of the used tissue. However, when a tissue is not at hand, the CDC recommends you cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve and elbow.

Changes Announced for Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen Holiday Fine Craft Fair The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is spreading the word about the relocation of its annual Holiday Fine Craft Fair to Manheim Township High School, Lancaster, PA. The event set for November 8–9, 2008, opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. on Saturday with doors reopening on Sunday at 11 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m.

Flu Vaccine Clinic Locator Now Available The Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) is issuing a reminder to those over age 65 to locate a flu vaccine clinic before the holidays move into full swing increasing possible exposure to the influenza virus. Those who are frail or have other health problems are particularly susceptible to dying from the flu or a related illness like pneumonia and are considered high risk, according to the PDA.
